COACHING EPISODE: Coach Alana Gibson!

with

Alana Gibson

Today we’re diving into the basics of feminine energy with Alana Gibson as she unpacks what it really means, shares biblical foundations, and gives practical tips for embracing it in your dating life!

Introduction

Hey HOD fam! While we’re taking a little summer break from our regular episodes, we’ve got something super special for you! Today, we’re diving into a BONUS episode featuring one of our own—Alana Gibson, Heart of Dating brand and community manager and coach! She’s unraveling all things FEMININE ENERGY. Whether you’re a woman wanting to lean into your design or a man curious about the dynamic (don’t check out—there are nuggets for you too!), this episode is all about understanding what feminine energy REALLY is (and isn’t!), why it matters, and how we can walk in our God-given identities in dating and relationships. Ready for some practical, heartfelt wisdom?

What IS feminine energy?

Alana breaks it down: feminine energy is the “being” energy. Think warmth, softness, true presence, and the power to RECEIVE. So many of us (yes, especially high-achieving women!) get stuck in our heads and masculine “doing” mode, especially at work. But relationships require a shift—being in our bodies and present to the moment. That “being” energy is magnetic! Healthy masculine men are drawn to it, and it’s not about being weak or passive. It's about making space for a man to lead, initiate, and pursue, just as God designed.

What feminine energy ISN’T:

  • Not about how you dress
  • Not weakness or passivity
  • Not being without opinions or just submitting to men
  • Not shrinking or self-silencing

Instead, it’s receiving, being, expressing, and inviting.

The Biblical Foundation

We’re not talking about man-made constructs here! Alana shares how God designed men and women with distinct identities and roles that are gifts, not limitations. Drawing from the book Biblical Femininity by Grace Church, she highlights:

  • Men’s core calling: Responsibility and leadership (with passivity as the primary temptation)
  • Women’s core calling: To be an essential counterpart (with autonomy as the temptation, cue self-protection or self-promotion)
When women try to do it all alone, it can block the space for a man to step into his role.

Alana’s Top 5 Tangible Tips for Feminine Energy in Practice:

This is for everyone wanting to actually grow in this area. Try these this week:

  1. Slow down physically: Literally, talk and walk slower to bring yourself out of “doing” and into “being.”
  2. Receive well: Accept compliments. Let someone open a door or help you—receive and say thank you!
  3. Express yourself: Share how you feel, especially when someone blesses you.
  4. Create space for men to lead: Don’t act like you’ve got it all together to the point no one can step in and pursue.
  5. Transition out of work mode: Find a ritual (shower, music, dance) to flip the switch from work “masculine” to relational “feminine.”

Pick ONE and practice it this week!

Let’s Recap and Next Steps

Stepping into true femininity isn’t about losing your power—it’s about embodying the fullness of how you were created. Men and women need each other! If this message hit home, Alana offers coaching to help you bridge the gap between learning and living this out in real relationships (heartofdating.com/coaching).

Want to dive deeper? She recommends the book Biblical Femininity and says Heart of Dating’s School of Dating will be opening a new cohort at the start of next year. Stay tuned!

We need each other, HOD fam. Feminine and masculine are gifts—let’s embrace them and support each other on this journey!
